Lowering the gaze

The question is: Does lowering the gaze have any benefits to the human health? Scientific research and studies proved that repeated desirous looking at the opposite sex, and the ensuing need to fulfill the suppressed and unfulfilled desires, lead to many problems as serious as productive system diseases, such as the cognition of prostate, the sexual inability, or total infertility.

 Some social studies have also proved that, in western societies, not lowering the gaze leads to depression and other psychological disorders. Such studies also indicate that moral disintegration and sexual  promiscuity in those societies are some of the results of the inexistence of a religious doctrine or ethical and moral restrictions that regulate such a noble sense and channel it into what conforms to the human physical and psychological health.

The sense of sight is absolutely the strongest of the senses as far as responding to sexual excitement is concerned. Using this sense unconsciously and indiscriminately in looking at what arouses the desires simply means that its owner is wasting it unknowingly, and consequently is wasting his/her own psychological balance in vain and in no return except for an illusion of enjoyment and pleasure. The best remedy for the desirous looking at the opposite sex is to remember that God is always there seeing us all the time, and is watching over our deeds. Remind yourself that God sees you but you can't see Him, so where on earth could you be able to commit  a sin without being caught? Where would such a place be? Also remind yourself of God's (reward) forgiveness and reward for those who lower their gaze in fear and obedience of Him.

The verses quoted are as follows:

And there will go round boy-servants of theirs, to serve them as if they were preserved pearls. Al Tor 52:24

Even a most abecedarian read of these verses will allow the reader to educe that they have nothing to do with homosexuality.  In all the quotes provided an ambiance of blissful harmony and happiness is illustrated.  In this setting there is the service of immortal boys, much like sons, who provide comfort for the patrons of Heaven.  They serve the righteous with cups filled with the tastiest drinks and fulfill their duties to wait on the people of God.  As it regards to the beauty of these servants it only relates to the exquisiteness of Heaven.  The ambiance in the hereafter is one of beauty and loveliness where no form of ugliness can exist.  The youth of these boys only relates to their eternal existence, never growing old.  Heaven is a place of incorruptible conditions.  People do not become decrepit, or enfeebled by age.  It is a place of everlasting well-being and freshness.  Hence, youth is the symbol of eternity and perpetual vigorousness.  Not in any instance in any of these verses is there a hint of homosexuality.  This is merely a projected misunderstanding on your, or whomever led you to believe this, part.

Considering that this is an Islamic site I would refrain from commenting on works that do not deal with doctrine.  However, so that I may fulfill your query I searched through "The Perfumed Garden" by Shaykh Nefwazi and could not find a remote statement such as the one you have provided.  I would recommend that you check the authenticity of the poem.  I hope that you are relieved of your shock and now appreciate a better understanding of the verses.  It should be noted that homosexual behavior is forbidden in Islam and is even mentioned in the Qur'an as being sinful.

Man Kicked Off Flight for Sagging Pants

Saggers, beware. Though the rest of the world really is thrilled to learn the color of your underwear, the staff at Spirit Airlines is clinging to the conservative notion that pants should be worn around the waist. The Chicago Tribune reported this week on a man who was asked by flight attendants to pull up his saggies. Apparently the passenger was willing to raise his voice but not his pants. After he became verbally abusive and threatened the attendants, he was booted in his thinly attired bottom and forced to deplane with his traveling companion.

This particular low-rider was more likely kicked off the flight for his threatening rant than for his low-riders, but it’s not the first time and won’t be the last that fashion trashing has pitted people against corporations and institutions. Every school season, some kid is suspended for an offending skirt or a shirt. The last time such a story made big news was when Katy Perry was cut from Sesame Street after showing too much cleavage to Elmo (and it’s only fair to note here that Elmo (a) is naked and (b) has a hand up his rear).

 

Schools and muppets get to make up their own rules, but the guidelines for passenger fashion and conduct are seldom well defined by airlines. Earlier this year, a woman with a healthy disdain for authority was prevented from boarding an American Airlines flight while wearing a T-shirt that read, If I wanted the government in my womb, I’d f*** a senator (the asterisks are ours, by the way). And this week’s Spirit sagger has some celebrity company: Billie Joe Armstrong from the band Green Day was removed from a Southwest Airlines flight last year in another sagging scene.
If your travel clothes don’t get you in trouble, something else will. Here are a few other ways you can be booted from a flight without rushing the cockpit, yelling “Bomb!” or being Alec Baldwin.

With regard to dancing, it is not permissible in front of other men or women, because of the fitnah that may be caused by the movements of the body. With regard to dancing on the part of women, it is an evil action and we cannot say that it is permissible, because we have heard of incidents that have occurred among women because of it. 

If it is done by men that is even worse, because that is men imitating women, and the evil involved is well known. 

If dancing is done among a mixed group of men and women, as some of the foolish do, that is even worse because of the mixing and great fitnah involved, especially when that is done at a wedding party.

Response of male dancers

In a 2003 sociological study, male ballet dancers reported several stereotypes they had been confronted with including "feminine, homosexual, wimp, spoiled, gay, dainty, fragile, weak, fluffy, woosy, prissy, artsy and sissy".
In preparation for their 2009 anthology on masculinity and dance, Jennifer Fisher and Anthony Shay interviewed several male dancers from different age groups, ethnic backgrounds, and sexualities. In the interviews, the men were asked questions pertaining to the biased Western picture of male dancers such as “Do you think you’re now surrounded by any stereotypes about men and dancing?” and “Are there perceptions about men who dance that you think need changing?
One of the dancers interviewed, Aaron Cota, came up against unfair prejudices but helped dispel them. He took some time off to enter the Marine Corps. He tells of his fellow Marines’ reaction: "When they found out that [I would be earning a] dance degree, they were like 'What? You’re what?'. They were kind of confused. You just have to explain it to them. When the guys in my unit would see some of the things I’ve done, or they see videos of other people dance, and they’re like, 'Holy crap, how can they do that?' ... and they’re like 'Wow, that’s amazing,' and 'That’s kind of opened my eyes ...'".

Another dancer, David Allan, experienced very negative effects of the stereotype growing up. He tells of the time he performed in his school’s talent show at age eleven, “I was so excited about doing A Dance from David, my first choreography. So, when I came out in my pretty white tights, there was a big roar of laughter.... Later I met some guys in the hallway of my school who were making rude comments ... 'You’re that dancer guy' would turn into being thrown down the stairs."^[4]
US danseur Walter Patrick Bissell mentions that he was horribly ridiculed as a boy for taking ballet classes. He did his best to keep it secret, but it eventually leaked out and he was in fights with the other children every day for the rest of school days.^{[citation needed]} The same has been said of ballet professionals like Ethan Stiefel, Sascha Radetsky, Edward Villella, Jamie Bell among others.

Effect on participation

In a study done on peer attitudes of participants in “gender specific” sports (i.e. ballet and American football), teens ages 14–18 were found to have strong stereotypical views. Males who frequently participated in a “sex-inappropriate” athletic activity were perceived as more feminine than those who did not. The study also suggested, “This stereotyping of athletes may have an important impact on the willingness of athletes to participate in certain sports. Likewise, these stereotypes may tend to filter out certain types of potential participants — e.g., macho males ... in athletic activities which are 'inappropriate' for one's gender."^[5] Victoria Morgan, a former principal ballerina with the San Francisco Ballet, relates "... I feel there is a stigma attached to ballet in America that doesn't reflect the reality.... This makes it difficult to attract some audience members and boys for ballet companies".^[6]
